TBCC FEBRUARY 2020 GENERAL MEETING MINUTES

February 11, 2020 @ Northdale Community Center



6:30 p.m. – Doors Open to Members and Guests.

 

7:00 p.m. – The Tampa Bay Coin Club meeting commenced with the Pledge Of Allegiance, President Steve Tercyak presiding. A moment of silence and reflection was observed for the passing of Board Member Joe Crespo’s son.

 

ATTENDANCE:  58 persons attended the meeting, including 3 first time guests who applied for club membership, and 3 YN members. 10 of 14 Club Directors/Officers were in attendance:  Alan Lebeda, Nathan Gazi, Kurt Mehl, Dennis Misiak, Al O’Meara, Hugh Taggart, Inge Taggart, Steve Tercyak, Richard Tiffany and Tracy Trottier. 

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Tracy Trottier reported that the Club took in $516.00 in January for the sale of Club Medals at the Winter FUN Show. All remaining Medals (2018/19) were sold. Tracy also reported that for additional security concerning the Club Treasury, funds were moved from the Club’s checking account to it’s Savings and Money Market accounts. The Treasury is declared solvent and “healthy.” Members were once again reminded that 2020 Club dues are payable. 

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT:  Richard Tiffany covered “highlights” from the January Club Meeting. 

 

MEMBER BIRTHDAY’S:  3 TBCC members were recognized for February birthdays. Each received a holdered 1955-D BU Roosevelt Dime (year Club was founded). Photo taken.

 

GENERAL DISCUSSION:  

 

  • Due to the need for a new TBCC Coin Show Venue, Director & Bourse Co-Chairman Albert O’Merea solicited members for input, with the discussion led by Director Kurt Mehl who has been working with Representatives from prospective sites. Work on this endeavor continues. 

 

  • Announcements were made concerning local Florida Coin Shows about to take place. 

 

  • 1st Vice President Dennis Misiak announced to Club Members that with the advent of the Club’s upcoming 65th Anniversary, a proposal is put forth for discussion. For consideration is an NGC slabbed coin(s) with special Club label (not graded). Such an Item would be made available for purchase by Club members. Examples of Manatee Coin Club NGC holdered coins, provided by Hugh Taggart, were made available for members to view.

Rudy Valentin Silver Door Prize – ASE won by member Donna Apel.

 

                                  Silver Raffle – Conducted by Alan Lebeda, Kurt Mehl and Nathan Gazi.

                                                            10 items (won) consisted of 1 Morgan S$1, 5 American Silver

                                                             Eagles and 4 Canadian Silver Maple Leafs.

 

      50/50 Raffle – $126.00 was collected. $63 won by member John Couch.
